Air Terjun Janda Mandi hidden beach and waterfall

Air Terjun Janda Mandi: Waterfall Into Ocean | Terengganu

Air Terjun Janda Mandi is a waterfall that flows down from Bukit Gemok straight into the ocean. It is located in Kijal, Terengganu, and can be reached on foot by a 30-minute hike. Legend has it that the waterfall (Janda Mandi = shower widow) is named after a widow of a sea captain, who mysteriously disappeared after she went here to take a shower.

1.45pm: The trailhead to Air Terjun Janda Mandi hike is by the road side with some parking space next to it. I went there on a weekday and the parking space was empty, but I reckon it would be quite full on weekends.

(+1)1.46pm: The trek starts by following the drainage channel up the slope.

(+4)1.50pm: At the end of the drainage trek is a hill to climb. A thick rope and layer of fence net are installed to help with the climb. However, I find the fence net is making it more slippery as I could not use the better grip of the rock face.

(+1)2.15pm: From this first beach, head left and walk over some rocky coastal path to another hidden beach where the waterfall is at. This is why you should avoid coming here during a high tide, as the path may be under the waves and unsafe to cross.

Here is the hidden waterfall of Air Terjun Janda Mandi. It was a dry period, hence the waterfall was only a trickle. If you visit after a period of rain, it would be quite spectacular.
