The big bushland of Cleland National Park in Adelaide Hills region has fantastic hiking and cycling trails, including the Chambers Gully Hike (also known as Chambers Hike). The Chambers Hike is a relaxing 7km hiking loop through Chambers Gully and over Long Ridge. Entry to Cleland National Park is free.
On this trip, I did the Chambers Hike in a clockwise direction (blue line). You can download the free map on Avenza Maps.
Chambers Hike, Cleland National Park
9.48am: Starting at Chambers Gully Carpark, enter the trailhead into the lush green national park.
Chambers Gully
(+8)9.56am: At the Chambers Hike junction, I took the trail on the left in order to walk the trail clockwise.
(+9)10.05am: Loud calls of white cockatoos filled the ambience.
(+13)10.18am: The trails are well-marked. Passing by the junction to Wine Shanty Track.
(+35)10.53am: Arrived at the junction, turning right to Long Ridge Track. But before that, I made a short side trip to Cleland Wildlife Park to use the toilet.
Long Ridge
(+38)11.31am: Continued on Long Ridge Track after my side trip to Cleland Wildlife Park.
Kangaroos chilling by the track along the grassy ridge. One’s got a joey in her pouch.
(+9)11.40am: A short side trip to the viewpoint at the western end of the ridge. Here you can have a view of the city and the ocean while resting on the bench.
(+18)11.58am: Back on the main track, the narrow trail snakes its way back down to the starting point.
(+5)12.03pm: Back to the junction.
(+8)12.11pm: Back to the car park.
Dropping by for a delicious Korean meal at Alice’s Kitchen in the city.

*Captain Planet passing by* Remember, please take care of our environment, and please don’t destroy the Nature. Leave no trash behind and take back only photos and memories (and also some trash if you can). Walk on the designated path and stay in the middle as much as you can, so that the exposed soil doesn’t spread/corrode further. BE ONE WITH NATURE *flies away*
