Explore Krabi
Located on southern Thailand west coast, Krabi is popular for its beaches, islands, and water sports but do you know that Krabi also attracts climbers from around the world for rock-climbing, and even deep water soloing thrills? Other than that, there are also many beautiful nature attractions, ranging from Krabi national parks, waterfalls and natural pools. Find out what to do in Krabi here.
This trip was done together with 4SpecsBada and friends
Note: This was a casual short trip with friends in May 2019 (before I started this site) and wasn’t focussed on particular guides/activities. We booked tour packages for our main activities.
Take a boat ride to Railay Beach
The only practical way to reach Railay and Phra Nang Beach is by boat. You can get a ride from Ao Nang beach, Ao Nanmao beach, or near Krabi town like what we did.
Long tail boat is the way to go, the ocean was calm and you get to enjoy beautiful sceneries on the way.
The views along the way, passing by some rocky cliffs.
Railay Beach Rock Climbing
At the beach, you can see many rocky cliffs that are available for rock climbing.
A huge rocky cliff tempting any enthusiastic climbers who set sight on it.
Check out this skillful climber
Within 6 minutes, he’s already up there. Can you spot him?
A little more challenging here, can you spot him now?
Other cliff faces with climbers.
Even if you are not climbing, just the view of the rock face will mesmerize you.
Hike from Railay Beach to Phra Nang Cave Beach
While the easier way to reach Phra Nang Cave Beach is by hiring a long tail boat to take you there, you can also use these alternatives from the Southern end of Railay Beach.
We took the hiking path with rocky wall by the side
Found a mini cave on the way. I’m not going in there!

After around ten minutes of hiking, there was a pretty steep rocky climb.
Twenty minutes later, we declined a steep path, popped out of the bush and found ourselves at Phra Nang Cave Beach.
P.s. There are other paths that lead to a dark cave and a high cliff but due to the time constraint and purpose of the trip, we did not get to explore them.
Explore Hidden Lakes
Spent too much time in salty air and sea? Take a refreshing swim in this natural pool (sorry for the blur underwater video)
In order to reach the pool, you’ll need to use a kayak.
Krabi Island Hopping & Snorkeling
It’s hard to skip island hopping & underwater activities in Krabi. It was a low season during our visit, near the starting of monsoon season, hence the visibility was greatly reduced. Still, it was a pretty enjoyable tour. Check out the video of our trip below, produced by my friend from 4SpecsBada:

Tours (inclusive of hidden lake + island hopping and snorkeling): RM234 per person for a private group of six
Hotel: RM262.90 per person (three nights) for two triple rooms at Family Tree Hotel, the hotel was super clean, neat and beautiful!
Another great one is The Nice Hotel for a lower budget.
