Wireless Hill Park is a small but great-to-explore nature park in the City of Melville, Perth. It is well facilitated with free parking, BBQs, playground, toilets, a cafe, and a small museum (more of an exhibition hall).
Wireless Hill Park is a great place to check out the wildflowers during the spring season. I went there a little late in the season so most of the bloomed flowers have wilted.
What piqued my interest was the many bobtail lizards (also known as shinglebacks, slow moving species of blue-tongued skinks) that roam around the nature park. Their short, ‘bobby’ tails are the main feature standing out from the usual pointy tip tail of most lizard species.
Another feature of these bobtail lizards are their ‘shingle’ backs. Look at the textures and colors! Just walk around the many trails in Wireless Hill Park and you’ll encounter these little cuties slowly crawling through the bush, feeding on plants and insects. Just please don’t disturb or scare them.
