Tanjung Piai

Here lies the point of the Southernmost Tip of Mainland Asia, also known as Indochinese Peninsular, right here in Pontain District of Johor, Malaysia.

You can even see Singapore from here.

Solar Eclipse

Solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the sunlight traveling to the Earth. The next solar eclipse (total) in Malaysia is happening on 20th April 2042. Check out the world’s eclipse timeline here.

Finally, the Ring of Fire appeared!

I made a simple DIY solar pinhole projector with a box.

The DIY projector worked!

Shadow of a Thousand Suns: Even the tree leaves were acting as the solar projector.

Caution:

Please do not look at the sun without proper eye protection. Use certified safe solar eclipse glasses or filter, even with these, it is recommended to stop looking at the sun for awhile after looking at it for a maximum of 30 seconds. X-ray films, photo films and sunglasses are not effective solar filter and could badly damage the eyes. Just like a magnifying glass, the lens of your eyes focus the light in one tiny spot and the focused sunlight would burn the spot. You can use welding glasses that are those of Shade 12 or higher.

*Captain Planet passing by* Remember, please take care of our environment, and please don’t destroy the Nature. Leave no trash behind and take back only photos and memories (and also some trash if you can). Walk on the designated path and stay in the middle as much as you can, so that the exposed soil doesn’t spread/corrode further. BE ONE WITH NATURE *flies away*
