I was searching for the best and cheapest place to stay for the days before and after my climb to Mount Kinabalu, and I found Happy Garden Kundasang. Booked my stay and headed there right after my climb to Mount Nungkok.
It was very convenient to stay here to prepare for my climb as it is only a 2-minute drive / 15-minute walk to Kinabalu National Park entrance. It is only a 10-minute drive to the town of Kundasang and it was easy for me to get around with the bike I rented for my 30 Days Trip Around Sabah.
What I found was a wonderland in cool weather!
It’s like living in a huge garden of a fairyland, with nice views of the mountains.
They have a rabbit farm too.
If you are too lazy to head out for a meal, you can order food at their kitchen.
Air Hockey and Snooker for you to play.
Additional ATV activity is available too.

Accommodation
The place offers various types and sizes of houses and rooms.
The interior look of a family suite.
Two of the family suites, and dorms at the lower section.
I stayed in the dorm and it was very clean and cozy. And one important thing at cold places like this: The shower heater works! (There were so many hotels in Kundasang that promise a water heater but the heaters weren’t actually working)
Outside the dorms is a nice cooking and eating area, perfect for chilling out with people.
Just like every other room, it is equipped with a kitchen, along with pans, pots, and utensils. There is also a cold and hot water dispenser here. Each house also has a BBQ pit.
The place could get misty sometimes.
