Kiulu White Water Rafting offers an easy and fun ride. The ride is along the Class 1-2 rapids of the Kiulu River flowing through Tamparuli. While not as extreme as the famous Padas River, Kiulu White Water Rafting is suitable for beginners who want to get a feel of river rafting. Book here!
Paddling downstream through the scenic views of the countryside along the 15km river, it would take about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the water level. There are also several points throughout the journey where you could stop by the riverside, or jump into the cooling water and switch to body rafting.
On the day of our visit, there wasn’t any rain on the mountains so the river was quite calm. The rapids were only grade 1, with majority smooth rafting and little bumpy rides at some parts of the river. Although we did not get much of the adrenaline rush, the ride was pretty enjoyable and the river was nice and clear. According to the river guide, when there are heavy downpours up on the mountains, the rapids would increase to grade 2 or even up to 3, but the water will be brown and murky.
My favorite part of the activity was body rafting in the cool, clean and clear Kiulu river, before climbing back up onto the raft for the last rapid ride. Watch the video of our Kiulu White Water Rafting experience below to know what to expect, hope you enjoy it!
