Enjoy the sea view while chilling on Tusan Cliff
When I started writing about Tusan Beach, I experienced a shock when I googled Tusan Cliff and found out that the iconic and gigantic ‘Drinking Horse’ rock formation was no longer there. It had totally collapsed. See the news with the before & after photo of the cliff here.
The beach and the ‘Drinking Horse’ rock had a deep connection with the hearts of the people. The unique rock formation has led the beach to gain its popularity, hence developmental work has been ongoing around the area to turn it into a touristy spot. The fate of Tusan Beach is unknown for now…
While the rock is gone, the beach is still a good place to chill around. Also, there have been reports of ‘blue tears’ sightings around the water near the beach.
How to get to Tusan Beach
From the highway, enter the road to Tusan Beach. You can easily stop by here on the way back from Niah National Park to the city.
Park your vehicle at the end of the road. You cannot proceed further because of the construction work going on there.
Walking towards the construction area, the right side is for visitors to walk to the beach site.
In a couple of minutes, you’ll reach a junction.
Climb up to the junction on the left to reach the cliff site.
Here is the cliff site or high ground area with some benches. A good spot to enjoy the sea breeze and the view.
You can see a vast ocean without any visible land ahead.
If you head right at the previous junction, you will go down to the mini cliff there. (Notice that the water on the right looked very polluted.

From the mini cliff, you can walk down to the beach on the left side.
